How to Save a Board Book's Binding

My boys were always fairly gentle with books, but my daughter (now 21 months old) is brutal to the binding of board books. She loves to just tear it to pieces. But, she loves to read books, and it's often her favorite books that suffer the most. So, in an attempt to save her books (and a little money in replacing them), I found a fairly effective way to save the board book bindings! It's not the prettiest, but it holds the book together, and allows you to turn the pages and keep the book flat when it's closed:

Cereal box boomerang

I know this isn't technically a boomerang, at least in the traditional shape, but my 6 year old and I had so much fun with this cereal box boomerang!

We played with them outside, and between the wind and the boomerang itself, they were completely unpredictable. It was entertaining to say the least for both of us to throw our boomerangs and try to chase them or predict where they would go. It was a treat to have everything work and have them come right back to us.

All you need is a printer, cereal boxes and scissors. You can find the template at Angelfire. Thank you ikat bag for the fun idea!

Monster Shootout

At hubby’s boss’ 4th of July party, my boys were given some water guns. In true boy fashion they have loved them and asked to play with them frequently ever since.
After being inspired by ikatbag’s Germ Warfare, I decided last week that we could have a monster shootout!Monster Shootout

Kids Patriotic Wreath

I’ve been searching and searching for patriotic crafts I can do with my boys that don’t require buying more craft supplies and when Gluesticks posted her Patriotic Wreath, I knew it was something I could make kid friendly! DSCN5509

Cereal Box Magazine Holder

DSCN5437
If you’ve signed up for free cooking magazines recently, you might have more magazines than you know exactly what to do with…or is that just me? This morning as I was pouring my cereal, I happened to glance on the inside of my Honey Comb box and noticed directions on the flap detailing how to make a recycle rack (which I have converted to a magazine holder).
