Popsicle Stick American Flag Craft

My boys have been begging to do crafts on a daily basis lately and this Popsicle stick American flag was so much fun, and perfect for their ability levels!Popsicle Stick American Flag @ whatilivefor.net You will need 13 Popsicle sticks, paint (red, white and blue), an empty cereal box, school glue, ribbon, and a hot glue gun (optional). I realize these aren’t the shape of the flag, but I thought the symbolism of having 13 stripes was more important than having a rectangular flag.

“A-Miracle”

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! During the last several days we have been trying to teach our boys what the 4th of July means for our country and every time our 4 year old would ask a question about America or the American flag, he would call it the “A-miracle flag.”

image0Though it was just a mispronunciation on his part, it made me pause each time he said it to think about the miracles that took place to bring this country to where it is, and the miracles in my life and I am so grateful!

I know that here are many wonderful countries to live in and I think miracles took place in each of those countries as well, but I feel blessed to live here in America and to be able to raise my children here where the opportunities are so great. Happy (belated) Independence Day!

American Flag Sugar Cookies

It’s been a while since we’ve made sugar cookies and yesterday I couldn’t resist any longer…I started wondering how on earth I could make American flag sugar cookies and this is what we ended up with:DSCN5532

The process seems long and complicated, but these turned out so cute and I can’t wait to take them to my husband’s work party! If it’s confusing, please leave a comment or e-mail me and I will explain it better.

Kids Patriotic Wreath

I’ve been searching and searching for patriotic crafts I can do with my boys that don’t require buying more craft supplies and when Gluesticks posted her Patriotic Wreath, I knew it was something I could make kid friendly! DSCN5509
