Children's scribbles into Father's Day Card

If your kids are too young to color a whole card (or just hate coloring like my boys often do) you can minimize their work and instead ask them to just color or scribble on a small piece of paper. Cut out a tie from their scribbles and glue it to a card...now Daddy has a designer tie by his little ones!

Each tie is "designed" by one of my kids. I made three cards last year...one for Daddy and one for each Grandpa. Simple and cute!

Bacon Roses

If the father in your life is anything like my husband, and by anything I mean obsessed with meat, give the bouquet that will go straight to his heart…through his stomach. That’s how you’re supposed to catch a guy right…through his stomach?!

I made these for my hubby for Valentine’s Day, but this would also be a fantastic Father’s Day or birthday gift for that special guy. I got the idea from Instructables but changed a few things and this is how I made my bacon rose bouquet…

You will need: bacon, fake flowers (I bought a bunch or two from the dollar store), foil, and an oven.

Salt Dough Handprint

If you’re wanting a fun, frugal way to capture this moment in time for your child, make a salt dough handprint!

Honestly, I love just holding this little handprint and tracing my fingers around each of the fingers, just in awe of how small but how amazing my son is.

To make your own little memory of your child, mix up a batch of salt dough. Roll out a ball of dough on some wax paper and have your child press their hand into it. Use a toothpick to make a little hole in the top and maybe write the initials and age of the child somewhere. You can neaten up the edges as well.

I recommend just leaving your handprint out to dry in a safe place for several days. I think ours took almost a week, but I tried baking other salt dough projects in the oven and they got too puffy and never really dried out :(.

This could be a great Father’s Day gift or something for grandma and grandpa!

Father’s Day: Photo Transfer Popsicle Puzzle

If you’re in need of a last minute Father’s Day gift from your kids, you can always make Dad a photo transfer popsicle stick puzzle. Of course, you could make them a normal popsicle stick puzzle which will also look darling, but add the concept of photo transfer and you’ve got a cute, fun variation!

Not all printers will work for this, but we have a laser jet and it works just fine. If you don’t have a laser jet, a photo copier will work too. Print out a picture in the size you want it based on the popsicle sticks. I used 12 sticks and my picture was 4x6 inches.
