Get Well Soon Card

Sometimes, when someone we love is sick or struggling, we feel helpless. It's hard to know what to say or do. Many times, they just need to know we are thinking about them. I hope that my friend's day was at least brightened a little when she got this "Get Well Soon Card" in the mail:

All it took was card stock, band-aids, googly eyes, glue, and some words of love and encouragement. A cute little handmade card to show your love.

Children's scribbles into Father's Day Card

If your kids are too young to color a whole card (or just hate coloring like my boys often do) you can minimize their work and instead ask them to just color or scribble on a small piece of paper. Cut out a tie from their scribbles and glue it to a card...now Daddy has a designer tie by his little ones!

Each tie is "designed" by one of my kids. I made three cards last year...one for Daddy and one for each Grandpa. Simple and cute!

Mother's Day Thumbprint Flowers

Last year we mailed these cards to my mom and my mother-in-law:

The flowers are made of each of our thumb-prints! My 1 year old was a little challenging, but I still love how this handmade card turned out. Dads, you can do this with your kids for your wife to preserve how tiny their thumbs were, or these cards are perfect for grandparents.

Footprint Carrot for Easter

A perfect Easter craft for little ones who are too little to do handprint crafts is this adorable footprint carrot!

Just put baby's foot in orange paint and "stamp" it onto paper or wood. Then draw or paint the green leaves and you're done! Footprint crafts are the perfect way to look back later and see how tiny your kids really were.

We made an Easter card for my aunt, and this was on the front.

"We Toe-tally Love You" handmade card

My dad had his birthday recently, so my kids helped me make this card for him:

Since I don't have stamp pads, I just colored their toes with washable marker and pressed their feet onto the card stock paper. My 9 year old was especially ticklish that day, so his was a little harder to get a good toe-print of :). On the inside, they each wrote (or scribbled, in the case of my 2 year old) a message for Grandpa, and we sent it off in the mail.

I love sending handmade cards to my loved ones, and I love that cards like these get my kids involved and show them that there are many ways to express our love for others. Thank you Danielle's Place for the adorable idea!

Watercolor Valentine's Card

Little princess loves to do crafts while her big brothers are at school, so one day we made a Valentine's card.

I Love You Card

There’s something special about preserving children’s handprints to me…I love any art that helps me remember in years to come how small my children were. Last year, the kids at our church made these adorable cards for their mothers for Mother’s Day…
Just trace your child’s handprint, cut it out and glue all but the two middle fingers to another piece of colorful paper. Then, fold the two middle fingers down and glue the tips of the fingers to the palm area to make the handprint do the sign for “I love you”. Super simple, but super cute!

“I Mustache You”…

If you’re looking for a cute Valentine’s Card idea for your loved one, I mustache you to try making this one…

I took Homemaking with Monica’s card and simplified it a little :).

Just glue a googly eye on the top and cut out a mustache from felt.

On the inside, you can say something like “to be my Valentine?” or anything else.

Embroidered Cards

I thought it would be nice to send my dad a unique, embroidered card for his birthday and I truly hope he likes it because it took a lot longer than the usual cards I send and I was pretty pleased with how it turned out…

I just printed out the image I wanted, traced it onto cardstock and used a needle and embroidery thread to carefully embroider the image onto the cardstock. If you know how to embroider or want more practice this is a fun, unique, personal way to show someone you care!

Footprint Ghost

I honestly cannot figure out where I first saw this adorable idea, but loved it so much, I think we have a new Halloween tradition…footprint ghosts! What a fun way to record your child’s foot size each year, or make super cute cards to mail to grandparents.
Just cover your child’s foot in white paint and press it down on black construction paper. My boys loved this and kept begging me to paint their feet more :).
After the paint is dry, use black paint or a marker to draw eyes and a mouth. You can hang this up or cut it out to make a card. Like I said, adorable, right?!

Valentines Card

I sure hope my parents enjoy handmade (by 3 year old) cards, because they tend to get a lot of them. This year, we made a mosaic type card and K was so excited to do the glue himself :).

I cut out a heart on the front panel of a card. On the inside front of the card, I traced the heart.
