Handprint Bats

Handprint Bats
Here's a quick Halloween craft you can do with your kids...handprint bats! You can have different sized bats if parents and kids all participate.

  1. Trace and cut out two of your child's (or your own) handprints. We did purple construction paper for some more color contrast.
  2. Cut out:
    1. A purple oval and a smaller black oval.
    2. A purple circle for the head.
    3. Two purple triangles.
    4. Two little feet.
  3. Glue the handprints to the purple oval, and attach all of the other shapes.
  4. Add on some googly eyes, and draw on a little mouth. We used chalkboard markers, but any marker will work.
  5. Hang your cute little creation upside down and admire your work.
Thank you Simple Everyday Mom for the cute idea!

Frugal Halloween Décor: Bats, Bats, Bats

Decorating for the holidays doesn’t have to break the bank…I love searching other blogs for cheap or free ways to decorate that still look cute and fun…

Bat Halloween DecorFrom my initial experience with bats to our fun batty lampshade, I still love bats at Halloween! They are so easy to make and can look amazing if you make enough of them…

This year, our bats are flying across the front door. Who knows, I may add some more to the inside, but for now any visitors can enjoy our winged friends as they walk up our little sidewalk :)

Thanks again Made for the fun inspiration. To find the batty template head over to Bats, Bats, Bats!

Batty Lampshade

I know Halloween is just around the corner and time is definitely running out for fun Halloween crafts but this is so simple and quick to do, but looks so cool!

Cut out some bats from plain white paper and tape them to the inside of your lampshade. During the day the bats are hardly visible (if at all) but when night falls and you turn the lamp on, suddenly a colony of bats is flying across the lamp shade!

My favorite part is that if you only use a small piece of tape on the body of the bat, the wings aren’t pressed up against the lamp shade and the effect it gives makes it look like the bats are flying! This is definitely not my favorite lamp in the world and I highly doubt I’ve ever smiled at it this much, but it’s a fun way to dress up what you already have :).
