Bacon Roses

If the father in your life is anything like my husband, and by anything I mean obsessed with meat, give the bouquet that will go straight to his heart…through his stomach. That’s how you’re supposed to catch a guy right…through his stomach?!P1030086

I made these for my hubby for Valentine’s Day, but this would also be a fantastic Father’s Day or birthday gift for that special guy. I got the idea from Instructables but changed a few things and this is how I made my bacon rose bouquet…

You will need: bacon, fake flowers (I bought a bunch or two from the dollar store), foil, and an oven.

1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit

2. Make your baking cups where the bacon roses will be baked. Take a strip of foil about 3 inches wide and cut it in half length-wise. Take each rectangle and fold it in half, then fold the bottom and side over twice to form a cup as seen below…open the cup up and form to the shape of a cup to hold your bacon. Cut a small hole in the bottom of each cup to let the bacon fat drain.

3. Take your strips of bacon and beginning at the fattest end, roll each strip up. Put your bacon rolls into the cups and pinch the foil cups around the bacon rolls so they can hold their shape while baking. Place the bacon cups on a broiler pan.P1030080

4. Bake the bacon! Bake for 30-40 minutes, periodically lifting the bacon with a toothpick to let the grease drain through the little holes you made in the foil cup.

5. While the bacon is baking, remove the petals from your flowers. Make sure to keep the pieces that hold the petals on. Once the petals are removed, put the petal holders back on, but push them about an inch down the stem. Wash the stems off with soapy water and let dry.P1030082

6. When the bacon is done, let cool. Then shove them gently onto each of the flower stems until they are flush against the petal holders I mentioned in step 5.

7. Use the flower petals or marbles in the bottom of a vase or glass cup and arrange your edible bouquet in the cup/vase. Now it’s ready to present to the man you love!P1030088
