Make Your Own Lacing Cards

I was at the store recently and saw a box of lacing cards which got me wondering how hard I would be to make some for my boys…turns out it’s pretty easy! 0804111615

I printed off some simple vehicles and glued them to some cardboard (boy do we have lots of cardboard after just moving-and it seems to be multiplying!).0803111306 My boys colored the pictures and I cut the cards out. Punch holes along the edge and set your kids to work lacing the cards with a shoelace and improving their hand-eye coordination…my 2 year old needed help pulling the lace through but enjoyed it for quite a while.0803111358a

It took a while for my 4 year old to want to lace them but he eventually felt this activity was worthy of his time and laced up an entire card on his own. I think I’ll put these in the car for long trips! 0803111708a

I’ll be linking up to Link & Learn, What Are Little Boys Made Of?, It’s Playtime, Kids Get Crafty, Works For Me Wednesday, High Paw, Sunday Showcase and Preschool Corner Friday.

  1. This is a lovely idea. And brilliant to add them to your travel bag. Isn't it fun to make something useful and save money at the same time? I love reading of your sweet momma love for your boys.

  2. This is a great idea. And I would love that for a car ride activity because it could keep the kids busy for a long time. Thanks for sharing.

  3. These look great- I splurged and bought some a while ago because the ones Kate and I made were not such a success- good lacing K and C!

  4. That's a really neat idea. Thanks for sharing. I'm excited to make some when my Monkey gets bigger!

  5. Oooh what a neat project. I will file this one away for when Little Bit gets bigger :D

  6. These are so cool. A great way to teach them to tie their shoes too.

  7. Wha a great idea! And a great way to make sure you have images that appeal to your child's current favourites (i.e. trucks for boys is always good!!). Love it!

Thank you for linking up to Kids Get Crafty!
