My Favorite Spaghetti Sauce

It’s funny how even when people try to leave your life, they are still very much a part of it sometimes. An old family friend no longer speaks to anyone in my family but I still find myself making her spaghetti sauce regularly because I always have, and likely always will love this sauce…and it’s so easy to make! Seriously, it’s that good.DSCN5492

I think my favorite part about this sauce is that you make it in the crock pot and your home smells amazing all day long. All you need is:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1-2 cans or 8 oz fresh chopped mushrooms (optional)
  • 1 can (26 oz) Delmonte Chunky spaghetti sauce, or can of desired sauce…I use whatever looks good or is on sale.
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz) stewed tomatoes
  • Sprinkle of garlic salt or granules according to your taste

In a skillet, fry your ground beef, mushrooms and onion until beef is no longer pink, and onions are translucent. Drain excess fat.

Put your meat mixture in the crockpot. Add spaghetti sauce and stewed tomatoes (drain these if you want a less runny sauce). Sprinkle in some garlic salt. You may need to chop the stewed tomatoes a bit.

Cover and cook all day on the “Hi” setting. Serve over cooked spaghetti noodles with parmesan cheese and savor every bite.

  2. Oh em geeeee! I've never thought about cooking my spaghetti sauce in a crock pot! I've never thought about people still in our lives after we no longer talk. That's really something to think about.

  4. This looks great! What I love so much about it is...it's allergy-free! My youngest son has multiple food allergies and this is one sauce that he would be able to have. I think I'm going to give it a try! Thanks for posting! (ps. thanks for leaving a comment on my blog) :) ~lisa

  5. Simple and I bet it tastes great. I love making spaghetti sauces. They can be so flavorful and they freeze so well.
