LEGO Challenge: Spider

Sometimes when my boys are fighting, I send them to their room and give them a specific LEGO challenge. This helps them to refocus their attention, and gives them something to do other than fight. I enjoy it because it lets me see how creative they can get! One day, I gave them the challenge to make a spider. It had to: have 8 legs, be the size of my palm, and have eyes. This is what they came up with:

My 10 year old used literal legs on his spider, and I laughed out loud when I saw it. My 8 year old had several different kinds of legs and a body armor on top. What would your kids' spiders look like?

Kids Craft: Spiders

It's time for all sorts of creepy-crawlies...including the cute, homemade ones! My boys loved making these spiders out of pipe-cleaners :)

Put 4 pipe-cleaners together and bend in half. Twist the bent side into a head and fan out the legs.

Add beads at the joints and position your spider in various ways :)

Handprint Spiders

There’s a soft spot in my heart for any crafts that involve my children’s hand and foot prints…such a simple way to preserve my boys at least a little bit :). Which is why I couldn’t resist making these handprint spiders to send as cards to relatives!

Just paint all of your child’s hand except the thumb and press it down. Then flip the paper over and repeat giving your spider 8 legs. Happy Halloween!
