Why You Should Upgrade Your Kitchen Appliances

This is an affiliated post. All opinions expressed are in agreement with my own.

When was the last time that you upgraded your kitchen appliances? Many people plan kitchen upgrades, but generally tend to point to cabinetry, flooring and even the countertops. Very few people decide to rip out the built-in ovens and microwaves and upgrade them for new appliances.

Focusing on upgrading your appliances is actually one of the most important things that you can do for your kitchen. Outdated appliances should be replaced every five years at the very minimum, and even though you may be stocking up on OEM refrigerator parts, you should be able to see when your appliances are going to need a little tender loving care. Replacing them completely could be one of the best things that you do for your kitchen this year, so here are all the reasons you should upgrade your kitchen appliances.

  • For the performance. You can generally tell when your kitchen appliances are starting to age into needing new ones, because they are going to slow down, make loud noises, and they’re going to break down more frequently. The fun thing here is that shopping for new appliances often means choosing inbuilt futuristic technologies to modernize a luxury kitchen in a snap.
  • For the environment. New appliances are more energy efficient than old appliances and it doesn’t take a genius to figure that out. All appliances are costly to run and maintain for a long time, so if you opt for the new energy efficient kitchen appliances, are you going to be making a smarter and more sustainable decision.
  • They are more durable. New kitchen appliances have been upgraded to meet the current trends. This means that they’re going to last longer and be more world wearing than other appliances would be. You’re also going to avoid that never-ending cycle of maintenance and repairs that your old appliances continue to have. Sure, your refrigerator may have lasted you 15 years, but what did it cost you in that time?
  • It’s going to look so smart. New appliances look pretty in your home, and there is no getting away from that. If you want your kitchen renovations to be stress free, you have to think about the aesthetic renovation that you can get with an upgraded appliance (though honestly every renovation comes with more stress than initially imagined…the question is, is the stress worth the outcome?). Appliance upgrades give you that aesthetic that you’ve been looking for, and they can add a unique vibrancy that is easily enhanced by buying matching appliances.
  • You’re going to increase your home value very quickly when you upgrade your appliances. If you choose to have built-in appliances that are hidden behind cabinetry, you’re really going to enhance the modern features of your home. Upgrading your appliances will add value over time, so you should consider these appliances that you do buy and integrate into your home as an investment. Don’t be afraid to shop around for good appliance deals and ask for a deal from the appliance provider's chance. Upgrading your kitchen appliances should be a fun activity so go forth and shop.
  • Take into account your current family situation. What appliances are more child-friendly…or are easier to lock children out of? What finishes are easier to get fingerprints off of or clean crayon off?
