Lawn Salon

If you’re looking for an activity that will keep the kids busy for a while, hand them a pair of kid’s scissors and tell them to go give the lawn a haircut :)P1030872

(Don’t mind the moon sand on K’s hands…we spent a long time outside that day). When I was younger, my brother and I would go outside and give the grass a haircut. For me, it was time to keep my hands busy while I processed whatever was going on in my life. My brother and I named our lawn Harry and we would spend ages just cutting Harry’s hair.

This was a great activity for my boys because it really did keep them entertained for a long time but it also helped them improve their hand-eye coordination, scissor cutting skills and general dexterity.

The next day both of them begged to go back outside and cut the grass’s hair :).

I’ll be linking up to Money Saving Mom, Works for Me Wednesday, Mom’s Library and Kids Get Crafty.

  1. I LOVE this idea! Maybe it is because our lawn is in desperate need of a haircut and our lawnmower is broken. Send your kiddos over here!
I will definitely have to try this once our little ones are big enough to use scissors.

  2. Too funny! I did this with my kids but I was really hoping they'd cut the high grass along the fence edge but they said the grass in the middle was more fun to cut. doh.

  4. That is so funny. Kids will do anything when you make it sound really fun. I boil eggs for breakfast and call them dinosaur eggs. The kids eat them all up! I am stopping by from Red Ted and am a new follower. I would be so grateful if you would link up at Mom's Library. Thanks for sharing!
